Apex Legends’ Alter Has A Pretty Unique Animation That You Might Have Missed

Last month, Respawn Entertainment released Apex Legends’ twenty-first season: Upheaval. Alongside a plethora of balance adjustments, new cosmetics, and more, players were also treated to a brand-new Legend known as Alter.

Alter is an interdimensional traveller who has come to wreak havoc on the Apex Games. Equipped with unique Passive, Tactical, and Ultimate abilities, Alter has already made her mark on the Apex Games since her arrival last month. But despite the fact that players have had almost two months to discover all of Alter’s tricks, one of her unique animations seems to have gone unnoticed…until now.

Fortnite Update 4.30 Enables New Reload Duos Playlist

The latest Fortnite update arrives today, with the highly-requested Reload Duos playlist making its debut.

Over on the Apex Legends subreddit, one player used a handy third-person glitch (which involves going into the firing range, leaning against a specific wall and changing character to make the game go into third-person) to show off a unique animation that occurs when the player gets a kill as Alter.

The animation is rather fitting for Alter’s personality, as she will begin to skip for a short period of time after getting a kill. Check it out for yourself in the clip below.

Unfortunately, as Apex Legends is a first-person shooter, this animation has gone largely unnoticed by many players. While Respawn did introduce a limited-time third-person mode back in 2020, it hasn’t returned since, which means it’s pretty difficult to appreciate the studio’s work on these animations.

But that hasn’t stopped players from praising Respawn’s work in the animations department. “Apex been having great animations with the newer legends. Conduit with that special one when she’s checking her inventory,” one user pointed out. While another said that Apex Legends has “always excelled with animations since [its] launch.”

Others simply pointed out how interesting this find was, with one user saying, “That’s a dope find.”

Fans might be loving this find, but it apparently isn’t enough to keep players coming back for more, as it was recently noticed by Apex Legends news account, AlphaINTEL, that Apex Legends’ average player count on Steam is the lowest it has been since December 2021.

While there are likely a magnitude of factors that have caused this, there’s a strong chance that players are continuing to rebel against the removal of Duos, which hasn’t been featured in Season 21 at all (and won’t be appearing for the rest of the season). However, Respawn Entertainment’s John Larson has said the studio has “the game’s best interests in mind.”
