Multiclassing is where you will build a character that has multiple different Classes in the game. One Multiclass that a lot of players do is a Sorcerer & Warlock (AKA Sorlock). This is one of the best Multiclasses in the game. Here’s how you can turn your character into a Sorlock.
Why You Should Multiclass A Sorcerer And Warlock
One of the most alluring aspects of diving into the world of Sorlocks is that you have an amazing amount of spells at your disposal. While Sorcerers will renew their Spell Slots by completing a Long Rest, Warlocks will do so by completing a Short Rest. This means that you will basically never run out of spells that you can cast at a moment’s notice.
Please note that you have to be playing in Balanced Mode or higher if you want to Multiclass.
How To Create Your Socerer And Warlock Multiclass
Since you have decided to create a Sorlock, you are going to need to know how to build one. This will include deciding on a race, what Abilities to increase, what Background to go with, which Class to start out as, etc.
Best Race For Sorcerer / Warlock
There are several Races that you can go with, and it isn’t set in stone which is the best of the best. However, if you go with the Asmodeus Tiefling, you will obtain the most benefits. This Race has several different additional spells thanks to their Racial Magic.

Best Starting Class For Sorcerer / Warlock
If you’re wanting to build a Sorlock, you will want to start off as a Warlock and then Multiclass into a Sorcerer. This will allow you to maximize the benefits of both Classes. You will have more HP if you start off as a Warlock, which is why this is so important. While you may gain a little power from starting as a Sorcerer, the HP is truly worth it. You will also want to take the Fiend as your Patron at this stage.
Best Ability Scores For Sorcerer / Warlock
Here’s the breakdown of the Abilities you will want when starting off.
- Strength 8
- Dexterity 14
- Construction 16
- Intelligence 8
- Wisdom 10
- Charisma 17
Best Backgrounds For Sorcerer / Warlock
For Backgrounds, you have a little bit of freedom here as well. The best option would probably be the Guild Artisan (which gives you Insight and Persuasion), though you can go with Sage as well (which gives you Arcana and History ).
Best Feats For Sorcerer / Warlock
With this specific build, you will only get two Feats. This means that you should just take the additional Ability Points and bump up your Charisma all the way. This will give you some serious damage later on.

Multiclassing Paladin and Warlock together in Baldur’s Gate 3 can make an incredibly powerful spellblade character.
Best Level Split For Sorcerer / Warlock
This is the part where the build gets a little trickier. A lot of people will do either a level 5 Warlock and level 7 Sorcerer, or a level 6 Warlock and level 6 sorcerer. The truth is, if you want to best pure damage Sorlock, the best way to build it is by doing 2 levels in Warlock and then Multiclassing the rest in Sorcerer. (Unless of course you increase the max level and do 10 and 10.)
The reason that the 2 levels in Warlock and the rest in Sorcerer does so well is that it gives you the basic Warlock aspects while also maximizing the Sorcerer aspects. Eldritch Blast is the most important part of the Warlock aspect of this build, and having that is amazing. You will also want to pick up Agonizing Blast at level 2.
Once you get into you Sorcerer leveling, you will want to go with the Red Draconic Bloodline Subclass. Not only will this Subclass allow you to do some massive amounts of damage with your Fire Spells, but you’ll get another boost to your HP.
From here, you will want to build the Sorcerer like you normally would. Make sure that you are picking the different Fire Spells throughout as these can seriously increase your damage.
