Release Date & End Date For The Abattoir Of Zir Event
The Abattoir of Zir Event is a limited time event for the Season of Blood in Diablo 4. Reminiscent of Diablo 3’s Greater Rifts, players will be challenged to clear a randomly generated mega dungeon in under 10 minutes. There are 25 tiers to this challenge, each getting progressively harder as you go.
The Abattoir of Zir Event launches on December 5th of 2023 and will conclude on the 24th of January 2024. While Blizzard officials have indicated that this and similar events may come back if well received by the community, it is by no means guaranteed that the Abattoir of Zir will return.
Diablo 4: Guide To Barbarian Paragon Glyphs
Want to customize your build using the Barbarian Paragon Glyphs in Diablo 4? Well, here’s a guide to help you with that.
How To Start The Abattoir Of Zir Event
The Abattoir of Zir Event is intended as endgame content in the seasonal realm. To access it you must have:
- Completed the Campaign
- Made a Character in the Seasonal Realm
- Finished the Seasonal Journey
Due to the fact that this is endgame content, it is advised that players undertake the trials using an optimized, level 100 character. You should be able to complete Nightmare Dungeons at Tier 100 before attempting it.
Once you’ve met these requirements, visit the Occultist. They will have a new craftable recipe available — the Bloodforged Sigil. This item acts similarly to a Nightmare Dungeon Sigil. Once activated, a portal will open in Ked Bardu called the Visceral Channel, and entering that portal starts the timer.
How To Craft The Bloodforged Sigil
To craft the sigil, you will need a hefty sum of materials. The first Bloodforged Sigil costs:
- 800 Sigil Powder
- 60,000 Gold
Each new sigil after the first is expected to be the same or even more expensive.

Rewards For Completing The Abattoir Of Zir Event
While enemies in the Abattoir of Zir Trials do not drop loot, you will receive a number of rewards for successfully completing each challenge.
|
The Tears of Blood Glyph |
Drops as a reward for completing the Tier 1 Abattoir of Zir Trial. |
|---|---|
|
1000 Glyph Experience |
This will be granted for successful completion of each run. |
|
The Next Bloodforged Sigil Recipe |
Each time you complete a new tier, the recipe for the following trial will appear in the Occultists’ crafting menu. |
|
Higher Rarity Items |
Uniques, Ancestral Items, and even Uber Uniques are more likely to drop in Abattoir of Zir Runs from the final boss. Their power level scales with the trial. |
The big takeaway from this list is the new Paragon Glyph, Tears of Blood. It will increase your damage by 2.0% for each core stat purchased in the range, and grants a +50% bonus to each rare node in the range of the glyph. Both of these bonuses are pretty powerful, and quite build agnostic — this makes the glyph desirable in most builds. However, leveling Tears of Blood will require ungodly amounts of Glyph Experience, which is probably the reason why the Abattoir of Zir Event gives so much of it for each run.
