Summary
- “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” is the highest user-rated original game on PlayStation Store with a score of 4.92.
- Over 11,000 users gave the game a near-perfect score, showing its immense popularity and industry impact.
- The game’s success may lead to DLC and offers a unique turn-based RPG experience with real-time mechanics.
While Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 might not be your typical AAA blockbuster action game with cinematic setpieces galore, Sandfall Interactive’s debut game seems to be faring just fine, with critics touting it as the best-reviewed game of 2025 so far.
Not only that, but the game has already surpassed one million units sold to date, which we’re assuming puts it in a good spot commercially. However, there’s even one new record the game managed to make on PlayStation that gamers might not even know exists or didn’t think much of.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Establishes Important PSN Record That Proves How Much Gamers Love It
Reddit user ERASER345 has noted that Clair Obscur is now the highest user-rated original game of all time on the PlayStation Store! The games counted are only those with over 1,000 user reviews to avoid review bias or a game getting a perfect five-star review since only a handful reviewed it.
Clar Obscur: Expedition 33 now has an average user score of 4.92 on the PSN Store from over 11,000 reviews. The former top-placer was a little indie game titled Omori, which scored 4.91 from 1,400 user review scores.
The top five highest-rated PSN Store games by users are as follows:
1) Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – User Review Score of 4.92
2) Omori – User Review Score of 4.91
3) Vampire Survivors – User Review Score of 4.88
4) Split Fiction – User Review Score of 4.88
5) Signalis – User Review Score of 4.86
Just think about that for a second: over 11,000 people gave the game perfect or near-perfect scores, which is insane. The game is so good and impacts the industry that even the French president, Emmanuel Macron, has lauded its achievements.

The RPG’s success might lead to the game getting DLC, which I don’t think anyone will complain about. For those playing the game, if you need help, we have a full walkthrough that covers bosses, side content and more to help you finish the game from start to end.
