If you’re playing Genshin Impact on PS4, you’ll want to savor that moment, as you’ll have less than a year before the game is pulled permanently from the platform.

This means that Genshin Impact on the PS4 will soon cease to receive updates completely.

Developer miHoYo announced that this removal and discontinuation plan will be carried out in three phases: removal of the game from the PSN Store for PS4 owners, delisting of in-game purchases, and finally, the end of support.

Genshin Impact On PS4 Will Be Unplayable In Early 2026

Genshin Impact on PS4 support will be discontinued on April 8, 2026. However, even before that, the game itself will be removed from the PlayStation Store for PS4 owners on September 10, 2025.

The developer cites that they are doing this “due to limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size.”

The three key dates PS4 Genshin Impact players need to keep an eye out for include:

• September 10, 2025 – Genshin Impact’s removal from the PS4 PlayStation Store (accounts that downloaded the game previously can still re-download it any time).
• February 25, 2026 – In-game purchases will end for Genshin Impact on PS4.
• April 8, 2026 – End of update support for Genshin Impact on PS4 (players will no longer be able to log in).

The PS5 version will remain unaffected, which is hardly surprising given how successful the online action-RPG has been for the developer.

With miHoYo’s other titles, such as Zenless Zone Zero, not releasing on last-gen platforms at all, this is a significant shift, as even free-to-play games are leaving the old hardware behind. We can’t say we blame them.

Earlier this year, miHoYo implemented an age verification system for Genshin Impact in the US, with consequences for players who didn’t comply.

Even if Genshin Impact is pulled from the PS4, gamers will still be able to play it on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, iOS, and Android devices.
