Announced five years ago, IO Interactive, the studio most known for the Hitman franchise, is finally ready to unveil its James Bond game to the world.

As part of the announcement that we’ll be getting an official reveal of the game later this week, the studio confirmed that it’s titled “007 First Light.”

The press release didn’t have a lot of information aside from confirming the game’s title, and that the official reveal is set to take place later this week, and will “give a world premiere look at 007 First Light, featuring never-before-seen footage, and start a new era for James Bond in video games.”

Given that Summer Game Fest kicks off later this week on June 6, that would be the perfect venue to reveal this AAA project.

While there’s not a lot of details for the game out yet, IO Interactive did confirm that their version of James Bond won’t be similar to any of the characters from the movies or other games. They are looking at the game as a long-term franchise and how it could easily turn into a trilogy.

We’ll have details on the new 007 game on the site, along with whatever trailer IO Interactive releases, later this week.

While the 007 license was a hot ticket way back then, we haven’t seen a new James Bond video game developed for core gaming platforms in quite some time. The last one released was 007 Legends in 2012 for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii.

If this 007 game is supported like the Hitman franchise, players can expect this spy to have a long and healthy life.
