While Sony hasn’t announced a new State of Play or games showcase, the company did confirm it will be attending one gaming event in August, and it’s not gamescom.

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), which is Sony’s PlayStation division, has confirmed they are attending ChinaJoy 2025.

Not only that, but the highly-anticipated first-party RPG, Lost Soul Aside, is confirmed to be at the show, alongside other games made by Chinese studios.

Sony Further Bolsters China Presence With China Joy PlayStation Attendance

Running from August 1 to 4, ChinaJoy 2025 will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Sony will have a slew of games available at its booth (via Gematsu):

• Black Myth: Wukong (Game Science)
• EXILEDGE (Enigmatrix)
• Lost Soul Aside (Ultizero Games / Sony Interactive Entertainment)
• Phantom Blade Zero (S-GAME)
• Retrace the Light (Xiaming Game / GlintForge)
• Tang Legends: Silent Strings (Virtuos)
• Unending Dawn (Parcae’s Fate Studio)
• Vanishing Starlight (Heart Seven / Gamepoch)
• WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers (505 Games / Lenzee)

The big games to watch out for here are Phantom Blade and Lost Soul Aside.

Given Phantom Blade has no release date yet, and Lost Soul Aside is set for release this August 29, all eyes will be on the China-studio-developed RPG that’s being published by Sony.

Even if it has “Soul” in the title, Lost Soul Aside is not a Souls-like, as it’ll be a more traditional forgiving action-RPG. However, the game’s traversal system is anything but traditional. If you saw the footage, it might remind you of the Tony Hawk skateboarding franchise of all things.

Another game included in ChinaJoy 2025 is Phantom Blade by S-Game. Even if we managed to get some hands-on time with it last year, there’s still no release date set for the action game set yet. Same as with Lost Soul Aside, Phantom Blade is not a Souls-like experience. Instead, S-Game sees it more as a tribute to martial arts legends.

Except new gameplay footage for both games to surface once the event starts, and hopefully, this also means new info as well.

One more game that’s in the list is Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, which was developed by Chinese studio Leenzee Games, and is out today. Our review of it spoke highly of the Souls-like title, stating, “What’s presented here is likely the best traditional Soulslikes I’ve ever played from a competitor, and well worth checking out for any fan of the genre.”
