MindsEye Launch Surprises Gamers By Being Even Worse Than Expected

Summary

  • MindsEye launches with zero reviews, facing a multitude of bugs and glitches.
  • Gamers on social media share negative clips, and Steam is flooded with bad reviews.
  • Developers prevent streamers from showing the game on launch day, hinting at deeper issues.

While MindsEye is already out on consoles and PC, the fact that there are literally zero press reviews out ahead of release is a warning sign that something’s not right with the action game developed by former Grand Theft Auto boss Leslie Benzies.

As it turns out, the game’s launch is a bigger debacle than expected.

MindsEye Launch Highlights Game Issues

Over on X (formerly Twitter), content creator Synth Potato enumerated the reasons why people might want to avoid MindsEye:

  • Locked to 30FPS across all consoles and suffers from constant stutter issues
  • Messy performance on PC (Unreal Engine 5)
  • Very buggy across the board
  • Crash issues for many people on both PC and consoles
  • Did not send out any review copies and only praise seems to be coming from sponsored creators
  • Terrifying face bugs and ragdolls

Another content creator who goes by NikTek posted a video of an NPC fighting back by shooting the air and acting like an AI from the PS1 days:

The bugs, spotty AI and performance issues didn’t escape the eyes of gamers, as over on Steam, the game is getting bombarded with negative reviews, with some questioning whether the game was playtested before release, with one user even calling it a pile of excrement, stating, “An unfinished mess, shoved out way too early. Instead of polishing the game, they throw money at streamers to fake enthusiasm, while completely skipping the press, probably afraid of the inevitable backlash.”

Benzies and his studio have decided to price the game at $60 due to today’s high cost of living (and eggs).

Further compounding the game’s launch day issues is how the MindsEye developers tare elling streamers not to stream the game on launch day.

Are the developers telling streamers not to share their game due to avoid spoilers, or is it for something else? The fact that a developer tells content creators not to stream their game at launch is a head-scratcher, no?

The rabbit hole that is MindsEye further deepens given executives bail on the company just weeks before the game launches.

We managed to talk to the studio, and one of the questions we asked is the negative reception it’s gotten so far. Read the full interview to see what they had to say and then some.
