In Palworld, players will need to overcome many difficult challenges and have a lot of operations in motion back at their base. They will need to know a good location to set up their base, and this might involve tackling some harsh climate conditions they will need to survive in. There are also many other beginner tips & tricks that could prove very helpful.

All the Pals in Palworld have Elemental Affinities. Each of these Elemental Affinities has an element they are strong against and weak against. Dragon-type Pals will be able to dominate over Dark Pals — of which there is a rather large number. However, Dragons will be weak against Ice Pals — but you may come across several dual-elemental Pals that can tip these odds in your favor.

Elphidran Aqua

Best Dragon Pal To Fight Fire

• Perfect for Farming
• Watering Lv 3, Lumbering Lv 2
• Partner Skill: Amicable Water Dragon

This Pal’s Partner Skill is Amicable Water Dragon, which will cause fire Pals that you defeat to drop additional items. Defeated Pals include both Pals that you catch, and reduce their health to zero. This can help you farm a lot faster with each Fire Pal you cross paths with while out collecting items.

This Pal also has Watering at Lv3 and Lumbering at Lv2, making it amazing around the base. The only downside of this Pal is that you will need to breed it in order to obtain it. You will need to go and capture both a Surfent and an Elphidran, and then put them in a Breeding Farm together. This means you will only be getting this Pal at Lv 19 at the earliest.

Dinossom

Wheat Giver

• Defeating this Pal gives you wheat seeds
• Planting Lv 2, Lumbering Lv 2
• Partner Skill: Fragrant Dragon

This Pal’s partner skill is Fragrant Dragon, and it will increase all Grass damage dealt by both the Player and by Dinossom, provided you are mounted on Dinossom. Another reason to seek out this Pal is that when you defeat it, it can provide Wheat Seeds as a possible drop. This will be required if you wish to grow and develop your base, as well as make Cakes.

Dinossom has a chance of spawning on the ledge of the Fast Travel at the Plateau of Beginnings, it also can spawn in several other spots. Including the Eastern Wild Islands, the islands with the Small Cove Fast Travel, and Ice Wind Island.

Azurobe

Midgame Water Dragon

• A great Water Pal for the midgame
• Watering Lv 3
• Partner Skill: Waterwing Dance

While Elphidran Aqua will give you plenty of items from Fire Pals, sometimes you may find a particularly strong Fire Pal that you care more about beating than what it will drop. This Pal will help you accomplish this goal as its Partner Skill will significantly ramp up your damage but also change the damage you deal to Water damage while you are mounted on it. It is also catchable as a Lv 17 Alpha Pal. This means it has a guaranteed spawn spot and you can catch it before you can even unlock breeding.

The Alpha Pal variant of Azurobe is north of the Ravine Entrance Fast Travel point, with non-Alphas over at No. 1 Wildlife Sanctuary. You will want to upgrade to a particular Water/Dragon Pal in the late game.

Chillet

Low-Level Alpha Pal

• One of the lowest-leveled Alpha Pals in the game
• Gathering Lv 1, Cooling Lv 1
• Partner Skill: Wriggling Weasel

This Pal will significantly increase your damage, and change your damage type to Dragon damage while you are mounted on it. This makes it great for dropping Dark Pals. This Pal also looks very adorable as it runs as an added bonus. The cherry on top of why it ranks so high on this list is that it also has a Dragon/Ice typing, making it perfect for hitting Dragon Pals harder than they can hit back.

This Pal can be captured around the Free Pal Alliance Tower Entrance, but also between the Icy Weasel Hill and Cold Shore Fast Travel points. These are all areas you will get to much later in the game, but you can actually catch this Pal as a Lv 11 Alpha before even stepping foot in these other areas — just head east from the Rayne Syndicate Tower Entrance.

Jormuntide

Late Game Water Dragon

• The best upgrade from your Azurobe
• Watering Lv 4
• Partner Skill: Stormbringer Sea Dragon

Jormuntide is one of the handful of Pals that comes with a Work Suitability at Lv 4. This will make it an all-star Pal when it comes to optimizing your base. This Pal has an increased movement speed once you mount it, and it does not consume stamina while traveling on water. This can save you a lot of time when crossing over to a faraway island or Wildlife Sanctuary.

This Pal can be caught in 2 locations as a Lv 45 Alpha Pal. This makes it something you will be obtaining much later due to this limiting factor, and you will also need a strong Electric Pal for the battle. The first of these 2 locations is north of the Natural Bridge Fast Travel, and the second is south of the Investigator’s Fork Fast Travel. This knocks it down a bit, as you can potentially breed it much earlier than you catch it using Pals like Grizzbolt and Nitewing.

Relaxaurus

Hungry Missiles Can Feel OP

• Utterly demolish your foes with rockets
• Watering Lv 2, Transporting Lv 1
• Partner Skill: Hungry Missile

This Pal will have the option to unlock Hungry Missiles in your Technology tab after spending Technology points on it. Not only will these rockets home in on enemies, but they will prevent enemies from being able to advance close to you or attack back. This can trivialize a lot of the fights in the game — and actually make players consider turning up the difficulty.

This Pal falls short in the Work Suitabilities criteria compared to previous entities, but it more than makes up for it by being a combat dynamo. This Pal can be found all over the island with the Ascetic Falls Fast Travel point. You can also use this Pal to get an Electric variant called Relaxaurus Lux through breeding.

Orserk

The Ultimate Energy Source

• Optimize powering your base
• Electricity Lv 4, Transporting Lv 3, Handiwork Lv 2
• Partner Skill: Ferocious Thunder Dragon

Orserk is the Pal partner of Axel, one of the game’s many Boss Tower enemies. With Electricity at Lv 4, this Pal can single-handedly keep your base booming with power. This Pal is also amazing for farming, as it will cause Water Pals to drop additional items thanks to its Partner Skill.

This Pal can be obtained at the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary, located on the northeast side of the map — although it might take you many trips before it even spawns once. Consider breeding a Grizzbolt and a Relaxaurus to get this Pal rather than spend a large amount of time hoping it appears.

Jormuntide Ignis

Endgame Fire Dragon

• Fire is the only element that covers 2 matchups
• Kindling Lv 4
• Partner Skill: Stormbringer Lava Dragon

Jormuntide Ignis will raise the attack damage of all Fire attacks for both the Player and for Jormuntide Ignis itself — so long as you remain mounted on it. This Pal has very high attack stats and this Partner Skill ramps it up even further, making it a truly outstanding source of sustained damage. This Pal is even viable against Ice types, which are normally the bane of Dragon Pals — throw in Tri-Lightning and this Pal covers a lot of combat options in your Party composition.

This Pal also has Kindling at Lv 4 for optimizing your base when you need a lot of Ingots made. This Pal can be caught at the No. 2 Wildlife Sanctuary — however, it is a rare spawn. You might have better luck hatching an egg, be it from finding a Huge Dragon Egg, or from specifically breeding this Pal.

Astegon

The Mining Machine

• This Pal is amazing no matter where you put it.
• Mining Lv 4, Gathering Lv 1
• Partner Skill: Black Ankylosaur

Astegon is an incredible Pal across the board. It has high attack stats, high defense stats, and it is a dual-element Pal that uses both Dragon and Dark elements. When not in your party, this Pal can be at your base using Mining at Lv 4 — but while in your party and mounted, its Partner Skill will increase your mining efficiency significantly.

Astegon can be found at the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary and as a Lv 48 Alpha Pal in the Destroyed Mineshaft dungeon. You can find this Mineshaft north of the Eternal Pyre Tower Entrance Fast Travel. This Pal is perfect for farming a massive amount of Ore fast

Jetragon

The Fastest Mount In The Game

• A really fast mount with mounted rocket launchers
• Gathering Lv 1
• Partner Skill: Aerial Missile

Jetragon is not just the fastest flying Pal, it is the single fastest mount in the entire game, in addition to being one of the strongest of Pals. Jetragon’s Aerial Missile Partner Skill lets you mount this high-speed beast, and have access to homing missiles as a means of attacking.

This Pal is best kept in your Party because it is the best possible mount at any time, and because it only offers Gathering at Lv 3 while at your base. If you want a Jetragon, you will need to travel to the Beach of Everlasting Summer Fast Travel and then head north.
