Palworld: How To Make Gunpowder

Much of the marketing campaign for Palworld revolved around the game essentially being “Pokemon with guns”, and that phrase is something you will see said often in the game’s community. And that tagline is not far from the truth, as you will be given a wide variety of fully-automated weapons to use against your enemies in the world. This means that you are going to need a lot of ammunition to keep those weapons locked and loaded to fight when you need it, which in turn means you are going to need Gunpowder.

How To Make Gunpowder

Palworld - Tocotoco with eggs

While guns are unlocked at Level 20, you won’t be able to unlock the recipe for Gunpowder until the next level, Level 21. Once you reach that level, you can spend your Technology Points to get the recipe and you will see that Gunpowder needs the following resources:

You will also need a High-Quality Workbench in order to make the ammo once you have the proper ingredients for it.

Getting Charcoal is incredibly easy, as you have the recipe by default in the game. All you need to do is build a Furnace and then put two pieces of Wood in it. Then have a Pal that possesses the Kindling ability to blow fire into it until the Charcoal is ready. You cannot make Charcoal by yourself, so the Kindling Pal is a necessity for the Charcoal. As for the Sulfur, it can be a little tougher, as mining it early on in the game is tough. If you are early in the game, your best bet is to run a Dungeon or two, as you can find a good amount of Sulfur in these. You just have to wait a good amount between runs to allow the deposits to respawn.

The best source of Sulfur later in the game is Mount Obsidian, where you will find a bountiful amount of Sulfur that you can mine. You can also find some deposits in the Desiccated Desert, but Mount Obsidian is your best bet and will always have more deposits for you. Just bring these ingredients back to your High-Quality Workbench, and you can begin crafting the Gunpowder that you need.

You could also get Gunpowder to drop from Tocotoco, but this is not a consistent amount of Gunpowder and makes farming nearly impossible with it. It’s better to rely on the crafting method rather than hunting for Tocotocos around the world. This is more of a method to save for if you come across these Pals in the wild.
