Persona 3 Reload lets players meet and form a social link with the iconic character Tanaka, the same one who sells shady items on Sundays in later games of the series. Tanaka is a thriving businessman who spends some nights at Paulownia Mall, where the protagonist can spend time with him.

Tanaka’s Social Link is one of the few nighttime social links players will have access to, and it will be fairly easy to have enough time to complete no matter when players decide to start it. While there are a few prerequisites to starting this social link, here’s how to complete each rank.

How To Unlock Tanaka & Availability

To first hear about Tanaka, players will need to reach Rank 4 of the Hermit social link with Maya. After that, players can find Tanaka but will need Rank 4 Charm (Smooth) in order for him to talk with the protagonist. Once you have the right Charm, players will need to give Tanaka 20,000 Yen upon their first conversation, followed by two more installments of 10,000 Yen on two following days, with his social link being on the third. Tanaka can be found in Paulownia Mall at night on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Tanaka is the Devil Social Link, and having a Persona of that Arcana will give the player additional social link points when selecting the right answers in each rank. Numbers in this article have been adjusted to include a Devil Acana Persona.
