It has been 4 years since the last mainline Resident Evil game, RE 8: Village. While we did get a remake of possibly the most popular game in the series (Resident Evil 4), we haven’t really gotten a proper scary experience like RE 7: Biohazard in a while.
However, from the looks of the gameplay trailer and recent demo at Gamescom, PAX West, and Paris Games Week, it turns out that Resident Evil Requiem might be going the Biohazard route with its horrors, and the good news is, it is being recognized for it with the awards it is getting.
In a recent X (formerly Twitter) post from the official Resident Evil page, they shared how they are honored to be “graced with 4 awards this year at Gamescom 2025”. These awards are:
- Best Visuals
- Best Audio
- Most Epic
- Best Sony PlayStation Game
Fans quickly caught onto their pun game of being “graced” with awards. With less than six months for its release, they can’t wait to play the game or even get their hands on the Demo (which should be available around 2 to 3 weeks before the game’s release).
Even though the game is heading in a scary direction, the director has promised that the camera options will help you if you get too scared. This will allow you to change to a third-person perspective, even if you start the game in first-person mode, but find it to be a bit much.
While we wait for its release, we currently know who the face of Grace Ashcroft is. Along with that, we also have other information like why the director decided not to make Leon the protagonist and instead went with Grace.
Which, after seeing how terrified she gets and runs away from this game’s monster, makes her the best and most relatable choice for this game. Even though this game isn’t out, Grace seems to have already joined the ranks of Chris, Claire, Jill, and others, at least from Capcom’s 30th Anniversary celebration website.
Resident Evil Requiem will release on February 27, 2026, and will be available on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
