Sucker Punch Game Director Would “Love” To Work On More Infamous

It’s been more than a decade since we last saw an inFamous game, but could that be changing soon? While Sucker Punch Productions is busy finishing Ghost of Yotei, the sequel to the super-successful samurai open-world game, Ghost of Tsushima, the latest comment from one of the studio’s head developers gives fans a glimmer of hope.

The inFamous franchise might not be a household name like PlayStation’s other franchises, such as God of War, The Last of Us, and the like, but it’s still one that’s highly revered by PlayStation fans and action game fans.

In an interview with Game Informer about Ghost of Yotei, game director Nate Fox was asked whether he would be open to revisiting the inFamous franchise, “maybe for a trilogy rerelease or something like that?”

Fox’s answer, while it doesn’t confirm anything, is a positive sign that the developers are open to revisiting the franchise.

Fox answers, “I would love to work on more Infamous. I would love to see a trilogy rerelease, but Sucker Punch is a one game at a time shop, and right now we are very focused on finishing Ghost of Yōtei.”

It’s nowhere near a confirmation, but at the very least, Fox is open to it. Given Sucker Punch has Ghost of Yotei to finish this year, any chance of seeing a new entry in the inFamous franchise will literally be years away.

The last inFamous game we received was inFamous: First Light released in 2014. This was a standalone expansion to inFamous: Second Son, which was the last mainline entry that was released in 2014. Our review of Second Son was very positive, nothing how the game entices you to replay the game to see the full spectrum of powers.

The latest word from Sucker Punch regarding the inFamous and Sly Cooper franchise was shared in 2022, where the studio mentioned that both properties were shelved for now.

Who knows? Perhaps once Yotei is released, Sucker Punch will dive back into the inFamous franchise. Here’s to hoping that happens sooner rather than later.

The studio’s current project, Ghost of Yotei, will be released on October 2, exclusively for the PS5, and is said to feature the largest map Sucker Punch has ever created.
