We did it, everyone. Not only have we made it to September, but we’ve also made it to the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong.
While there have been plenty of games that have been delayed to escape Silksong’s shadow, there are still plenty of titles out there on the release calendar this week.
Believe it or not, there are plenty of people who aren’t going to play Silksong. Some are looking to return to the court in preparation for the new NBA season. Others are excited to dive into some survival-horror goodness from Blooper Team.

Hollow Knight: Silksong (Game Pass / Xbox Play Anywhere – Sept. 4) The game that made the wait for Elden Ring seem short. After the release of Hollow Knight in 2018, it lit the indie and Metroidvania world on fire. Originally planned as an expansion, developer Team Cherry quickly changed course to make Silksong a full-fledged sequel. However, its lengthy development time, combined with little to no communication from Team Cherry, helped turn the game into more of a meme than anything else. Now we get to sit back and laugh as we finally dive back into the world of Hollow Knight on September 4th.
Cronos: The New Dawn – Pre Order Edition (Optimized for Xbox Series X|S / Xbox Play Anywhere – September 5th) Blooper Team, best known for their work on the Silent Hill 2 remake, is back with another survival horror experience. The third-person survival horror experience incorporates time travel elements, which should only enhance the game’s intrigue. It’s also an original IP, so it’s exciting to see what Blooper Team has been able to cook up. Here’s to hoping they can stick the landing.
NBA 2K26 (Optimized for Xbox Series X|S – September 5th) As the year rolls on, that means it’s time for sports leagues to start back up. We’ve already had the release of College Football and Madden; now it’s time for the other big sports game to make its return: NBA 2K26. All the modes you know and love are back: MyCareer, MyTeam, and more. 2K had a good outing earlier this year with WWE 2K25. Let’s see if they can carry that momentum with NBA this week.
